HOUSTON - May 23, 2012 - Spring ISD students who are currently enrolled in ninth grade are invited to attend a free one-day summer boot camp hosted by the Lone Star College-North Harris College Awareness, Readiness and Education (CARE) Team. Three boot camps will be held from 7:45 a.m. until noon on June 26, July 25 and Aug. 2 at the Lone Star College-North Harris Student Services Building, 2700 W.W. Thorne, Houston.

Participants will attend reading, writing, and math mini-courses taught by LSC-North Harris faculty that will help prepare the students for the Compass college-level placement test, which all 10th-grade students will take in 2012-13. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to meet current college students and hear their perspective on college. The last session of the day will be a “College 101” information session with the CARE advisers.
