Trips and UIL

  • According to state regulations, students must be passing all classes with a minimum grade of 70 on their report card in order to participate in UIL events and to go on school sponsored trips (i.e. SplashTown or Schlitterbahn). If a student is failing one or more classes at the six-weeks mark, they may regain eligibility after the waiting period and three weeks.  In order to regain eligibility, all classes must be 70 or better on the progress report.

  • If a student is in Extension Center (EC) during UIL competition, they will not be permitted to go on the trip in May and will forfeit all fees paid.

  • If a student is in the Extension Center immediately prior to the trip, the student will not be permitted to attend the trip and will forfeit all fees paid.

  • There are many events included in the “no pass, no play” category: Solo and Ensemble Contest, Region Choir, UIL Concert and Sight-Reading, the yearly trip, and choir socials. Choir field trips are also included, such as leaving during the school day for performances that would require missing more than the student’s choir class.

  • Behavior ineligibility- inappropriate behaviors demonstrated by a student on a consistent basis will be grounds for dismissal from a trip, social, etc.  The choir director has discretion over this matter.

  • If a student does not attend ALL required concerts/events they will not be allowed to participate in the end of year trips.
