Elementary Counseling

The elementary guidance program focuses on academic success, personal/social growth (including personal safety), and career and college information.  Elementary school counselors have a very important role in helping children develop lifelong interpersonal skills which include social, coping, and problem-solving skills.  In addition to providing a nurturing environment that helps build self-confidence in young students, elementary counselors also offer early academic identification and intervention, and they offer comprehensive school guidance programs based on identified student and campus needs. Students can see the Elementary Counselor via a self-referral, parental request, and/or teacher or administrative referral. Individual school counseling sessions may be frequent or simply as needed.  Referrals are provided for long-term, therapeutic services.
