Safety is Our Priority
Spring ISD has adopted the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), a nationally-recognized, proven methodology that ensures a uniform response by faculty, staff and students to school-based emergencies.
Administrators, campus staff and students are trained each school year on SRP and conduct SRP-based emergency drills each semester, as well as state-mandated fire drills, to reinforce emergency preparedness. While SRP is not a replacement for school safety plans or programs, it standardizes Spring ISD’s approach to emergency management by providing for consistent terminology and response actions during an emergency.
What is the Standard Response Protocol? A uniform, planned, and practiced response to any incident is the foundation of a safe school. The SRP is action-based, flexible, and easy to learn. It rationally organizes tactics for response to weather events, fires, accidents, intruders and other threats to student safety.
Why is having a plan important? A uniform, organized, action plan will help keep your child(ren) safe during emergencies which may occur while on Spring ISD property. By conducting drills and having emergency operations plans on every campus, it is the goal of the District to be prepared for any incident which may occur. Emergency Management and School Safety is passionate about educating students, staff, and parents to promote a culture of preparedness which will lessen the impact when disaster strikes.
