Spring ISD is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its students and staff.
Safety in Schools
We are pleased to provide an update on the progress we've made in enhancing the safety and security of our schools, thanks to the generous support of our community through the 2022 Bond Election.
These initiatives are designed to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and staff. We are committed to ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of our school community.
OPENGATE Weapon Detection System
Spring ISD has implemented a comprehensive plan to install OPENGATE weapon detection systems at every campus within our district. These state-of-the-art systems utilize the latest technology to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and staff. The portable nature of the OPENGATE systems allows for flexible deployment, ensuring comprehensive coverage at both regular campus operations and special events, such as varsity football games at Planet Ford Stadium.
We believe that this investment in safety technology is a crucial step in creating a welcoming and secure learning environment for all. To learn more about the OPENGATE system and its benefits, please visit the CEIA OPENGATE website.
Upgrade of Police Department Fleet of Vehicles
Spring ISD is excited to share that thanks to the 2022 Bond, the Spring ISD Police Department has been able to upgrade its fleet of vehicles. The new Chevrolet Tahoes will provide our officers with reliable and well-equipped tools to respond to incidents and emergencies throughout our district.
Armed Police Officer at Every Campus
Spring ISD maintains a strong commitment to complying with House Bill 3, a state law that requires all Texas schools to have an armed officer on campus when students are present.
To meet this mandate, our Board of Trustees has approved a multi-year plan to add licensed police officers to campuses that previously lacked this safety measure. We believe this investment in law enforcement will significantly enhance the security and protection of our students and staff.
The officers joining our district bring a wealth of experience and expertise, further strengthening our commitment to safety. We are confident that their presence will create a safer and more supportive learning environment for all. Pictured below are just a few of the men and women who have answered the call to serve Spring ISD in this new role. If you are a licensed Texas Peace Officer and would like to join the Spring ISD team, you can find more information about us and take the next step on our Police Department website.
