Gifted and Talented Service Design

The district will provide an array of learning opportunities for gifted and talented students in kindergarten through grade 12.

Elementary

Elementary Instructional Expectations

Expectations include completion of at least one advanced level research project/product per semester and use of district curriculum documents. Students will participate in a campus and/or district gifted and talented expo each semester showcasing their project they completed within the semester. A gifted and talented progress report will be completed and sent home with each identified G/T student at the end of each semester.

Secondary

Secondary Instructional Expectations

Gifted and Talented instructional activities are located within district curriculum documents. In addition, students are expected to complete an advanced level research project/product (one project per semester).  Students are expected to participate in a campus and/or district gifted and talented expo each semester showcasing their research completed within the semester/year.

  • Students will be automatically enrolled in Advanced Courses for all core classes at the middle school level.

  • Students are required to enroll in at least one or more Advanced Courses (Advanced Placement, G/T Mentorship,or Dual Credit) at the high school level.

  • Students enrolled in AP Courses are expected to take the AP Exam for the course in which the student is enrolled.

  • Students identified as G/T are encouraged to participate in academic competitions to deepen their knowledge about a topic/subject.
