Plans after High School:
After high school, I plan to attend the University of St. Thomas and major in Nursing. Upon my graduation from my four-year institution, I will move forward to the workforce to serve at a healthcare facility. Though this is my broad goal, my higher goal would be to become a travel nurse and work for underserved communities throughout the world. Access to healthcare may be challenging for different populations around the globe. Limited resources, financial constraints, and lack of insurance coverage are all withstanding obstacles that are fairly prominent throughout the nation. Additionally, language barriers, cultural differences, and mistrust towards the healthcare system can impact the access and delivery of health services. I hope to take the knowledge I attain in college and build initiatives to address these disparities. Centers, programs, and mobile clinics are all possible efforts I have considered. I strive to advocate for equitable access to this support to improve health literacy, provide interpretation services, and build culturally sensitive care to amend the effect of existing disparities. From my own experience, I know the high demand for healthcare professionals who are bilingual. The importance of patient understanding and care would be a long-term benefit and influence the field greatly. By learning to address systemic obstacles, I hope my experience at my future institution can allow me to transform the lives of the members of these communities.
